How to use this site

It has been brought to my attention that some people are having trouble getting used to the way this site is laid out (while yet others find it very easy to navigate). I'm not going to change it, but instead I've added this little page to explain the way this site works.

In the image below a screenshot of the site is portrayed. Apart from the main center page (which obviously is the main source of information on a particular subject), there are yet a few other important areas, you will need to know about to effectively use this site. The important areas are highlighted.

Site Navigation

In the top-left of the image, right below the site's title, you will find the site navigation panel. This horizontally laid out panel is important to navigate through this site. This site is subdivided into several sections, each section contains specific types of information.

The Site Navigation Panel will always have the same appearance and it will be available on each and every page that you can visit on this site.

Sectional Navigation

Right below the Site Navigation Panel, there is a vertically laid out menu, the Section Menu. This is a context menu used for easy navigation through the current section.

Being a context menu, the contents of this menu changes as you change from one section to another. Even within the same section the menu can extend itself —zoom in— locally if you arrive at particular portions of such a section (for an example you might want to try the Manual section).

Right hand side

On the right hand side of this website there is a panel containing three specific groups of information. This panel is less important than the other two above, so if you feel that you know enough, you may skip this section.

Site Search

Although not currently operational, in the future you will be able to use google to search this site for specific information.

A selection of the latest news about this project as it is published on rubyforge is shown here in the form of headlines with links to the complete news item on rubyforge.

Miscellaneous Links

Below the headlines there are a few links to related sites and other miscellaneous sites. These links are subject to change and the selection of links are left to the discretion of the site's webmaster.

Visibility

Depending on you display resolution and whether or not you are allowing this site to run javascript, the right hand side may not be visible or it may be relocated elsewhere depending on the current section.
